RISING Bulawayo gospel musician Innocent Nyoni is winning over listeners with his latest release, Lalela Lemuel, a spiritually uplifting album that is fast gaining popularity among gospel music fans.
Released on April 30, the eight-track project has received positive feedback from audiences, who have praised its powerful message, rich sound and emotional depth. Rooted in Biblical teachings, the album’s title track draws inspiration from Proverbs 31, where a parent offers guidance and warnings to a son about life’s temptations.
“The song was inspired by Proverbs 31, where it speaks about a parent advising his son against lustful desires and worldly temptations,” said Nyoni.
Blending Zion and Pentecostal influences, Nyoni has created a sound designed to appeal across denominations while carrying a message of hope, guidance and spiritual renewal.
“The songs are a combination of Zion and Pentecostal sounds to accommodate everyone,” he explained.
Beyond its melodies, the album also carries a strong social message aimed at young people, particularly those affected by drug and substance abuse.
“I wish this message to continue even in my next album because of what it carries, especially for young people. I want the message to spread as it is so that it is fully received. Young people are being destroyed by drugs and substance abuse,” he said.
Despite the growing popularity of the album, Nyoni admitted that financial constraints continue to limit his ability to fully realise his artistic vision.

“I have the talent, the message and the passion to touch lives through music, but financial challenges continue to stand in the way of turning my vision into world-class productions. Studio recording is expensive and, with the right support, I believe I can create music powerful enough to inspire, heal and transform generations,” he said.
He added that production of visuals for the album has been temporarily suspended because of a lack of funding, despite growing demand from fans.
“Right now, I have halted the album’s visuals due to finances,” he revealed.
Even in the face of financial difficulties, Nyoni remains committed to using music as a tool for healing, transformation and inspiration.
With Lalela Lemuel already resonating strongly with listeners through its spiritual depth and heartfelt message, the rising Bulawayo gospel artiste is showing that purpose-driven music still has the power to move hearts.
As he continues to turn Biblical wisdom and real-life experiences into soul-stirring melodies, many believe Nyoni is destined for even greater heights in the gospel music industry.
