A TRIO of innovators from Bulawayo has developed a ground-breaking solution to address the financial management challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs), following a concerning wave of business closures linked to poor financial tracking and decision-making.
The SME sector remains a critical pillar of Zimbabwe’s economy, accounting for over 50% of employment and playing a significant role in driving industrialisation and innovation.
Sithembinkosi Moyo, Promise Nkomo and Thabo Nkomo have created a system called Xcellytics, a sales performance tracking system, which tracks one’s daily, monthly and yearly revenue, frequency of product purchase, business expenses and ultimately profit to enable effective business growth.
“It offers simple yet insightful information that could help any business to understand its performance gaps and where it is doing great, we are using this system to try and uplift businesses in our community,” Moyo said.
She added: “We have noticed that small and growing businesses usually do not have digitalised, affordable systems to track their financial performance, which leads to poor financial decisions and the desire to quit.”
Moyo said they were targeting small businesses, “which are the heart of our economy that focus on just about anything”, ranging from chicken projects, to flea markets and small restaurants, adding that their system had the potential to cater for anything thrown its way.
“Businesses that are interested in this system can contact us directly through our social media platforms and we can give them a view on how it operates,” Moyo said.
“We offer a seven-day free trial for our premium plan just to show the business what the system is capable of; then, a once off payment can be made to purchase the system which can actually be used offline.”
