Patient Arrested for theft at Sally Mugabe Hospital

 

A patient admitted at Sally Mugabe Hospital has been remanded in custody on theft allegations after he was reportedly caught stealing hospital property from his ward.

Taona Nzvimbo (40) was remanded by Mbare magistrate Tatenda Mukurunge.

The prosecution, led by Francisca Mukumbiri, alleges that on October 7, at around 0040 hours, Nzvimbo stole copper and aluminium fittings from the hospital .

Despite being admitted to the hospital after reportedly being run over for a previous theft, Nzvimbo is accused of committing another offence.

Police allegedly recovered 45 pieces of copper pipe, each measuring 20 centimetres, along with aluminium pipes from his hospital bed locker.

Nzvimbo has been remanded to October 22 for his court hearing.

He will remain under guard on his hospital bed until the trial proceeds.
