Kenyan fined for illegal entry

Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa said Lang entered Zimbabwe on December 21 and failed to present a passport at the Beirtbridge border post.

Love can lead one to take desperate measures, and this was proved by a Kenyan national who illegally entered Zimbabwe to spend time with his Plumtree girlfriend.

The suspect, Patrick Kipyegon Lang (39), appeared before  Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware last week and pleaded guilty to the charge of entering the country  illegally.

“Your worship, l desperately wanted to see my girlfriend, hence l illegally entered this country so that l would be with her during the holidays,” Lang.

Nembaware fined him $100 fine or alternatively that he will spend one month in jail if he fails to pay.

Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa said Lang entered Zimbabwe on December 21 and failed to present a passport at the Beirtbridge border post.

He went to his girlfriend’s place in Plumtree.

On January 3, he tried to cross the border through Plumtree border post and was caught by alert immigration officials.
