FORMER speaker of the National Assembly Lovemore Moyo's United Movement for Devolution (UDM) tips Zapu candidate Thabani Mlotswa to win the Insiza North constituency by-election scheduled for next month.
In a statement yesterday, Moyo said they worked tirelessly with Zapu on many political fronts since 2018 in a bid to end the ruling Zanu PF's grip on power.
Moyo said through ongoing dialogue, the parties’ leadership had strengthened political co-operation and unity, recognising that true self-determination, equality and justice can only be achieved with Zanu PF's removal from power.
“A key motivation for our support is the shared commitment to a nationally-devolved system of governance. It's our well-considered view that the people of Insiza North deserve a genuine alternative to Zanu PF, which has historically imposed candidates from outside the district. The people of koGodlwayo omnyama have an obligation and are duty-bound to free themselves from Zanu PF's misrule,” he said.
Moyo called on all progressive forces, individuals, UDM supporters, sympathisers and the people of Insiza North to rally behind Zapu candidate Mlotshwa to make a difference.
The forthcoming by-election presents an incredible opportunity for the people of Insiza North and Matabeleland to vote Zanu PF out of our region and forge a new political path.
“This is the time for the people of Insiza North, koGodlwayo omnyama, uMahlaba ayithwale, to take charge of their political destiny by voting Zanu PF out of the constituency,” he said.
