Ncube warns against Zanu PF factionalism

MIDLANDS Provincial Affairs minister, Owen Ncube

MIDLANDS Provincial Affairs minister, Owen Ncube, has warned Zanu PF members in the province against abusing the ongoing cell verification exercise for factional ends.

Zanu PF is undertaking a cell verification exercise across the country ahead of provincial elections later this year.

The cell verification exercise has become a battlefield for factional camps as they seek to position their members ahead of the provincial elections.

Ncube, however, emphasised the importance of undertaking the cell verification exercise without bias.

“We must take cell verification seriously and ensure all members are included without bias,” he said.

Ncube said this in an address at Emthonjeni Primary School in Mbizo, Kwekwe, on Tuesday after distributing food hampers to 1 000 vulnerable residents, including the elderly and persons with disabilities.

He encouraged the reintegration of those returning from the opposition into Zanu PF ranks.

“Let us welcome our returning comrades with warmth and unity,” he said.

The commodities included essential items such as mealie-meal, cooking oil and soap.

“This food distribution initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities and ensuring no one and no place is left behind,” he said.

Ncube said similar programmes would be undertaken across the province.

“We are working under Vision 2030 to improve the quality of life for all Zimbabweans, step by step,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the food aid expressed appreciation for the assistance, saying it came at a time when many households were struggling to make ends meet.

The food aid distribution attracted residents from across the Mbizo constituency and local Zanu PF officials.
