Crime hits Nketa suburb

A number of suburbs in the city have also been reporting a wave of robberies and machete gang attacks.

BULAWAYO Ward 25 councillor, Aleck Ndlovu, has appealed to police to increase day and night patrols in response to increasing crime in the area.

“Concern has been raised about increasing criminal incidents in Mgiqika and other areas in Ward 25,” he said.

“I have invited the police to come and address the community on the dangers of youths choosing to live a life of stealing.

“We have a neighbourhood watch committee, but it appears overwhelmed hence our appeal that police conduct day and night patrols.”

A number of suburbs in the city have also been reporting a wave of robberies and machete gang attacks.

According to reports, police have linked the machete gangs to mushrooming illegal gold mines on the city’s outskirts.

In early May this year, Bulawayo police said they had busted a terrifying machete-wielding gang that had terrorised several suburbs for months.
