A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Munukwa village in Gokwe, Midlands province, is in soup following the murder of a chief’s messenger.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Brighton Maketo allegedly fatally struck Moses Moyo after being served with summons to appear at a traditional court.
The incident occurred on June 24.
“At around 1130 hours in village Munukwa under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe, the now-deceased approached the suspect with the intention to serve him with summons to headman Ndlalambi’s court,” Mahoko said.
He said a misunderstanding arose between the two, resulting in a fistfight.
Maketo allegedly used a stool and an axe to strike Moyo in the head and on the leg.
Moyo succumbed to his injuries at Maketo’s homestead.
“The suspect was arrested by the police and will appear in court soon,” Mahoko said.
