TWO men appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla on charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.
The suspects from Pumula high-density suburb Amard Ncube (42) and Mthandazo Ndlovu (39), were remanded in custody to August 8.
They were being represented by Tinashe Tashaya of Tashaya Law Chambers.
In court, the accused claimed they were forced to confess by CID Homicide Harare.
Tashaya further alleged that his clients were assaulted by police, leaving them with mobility issues and in need of medical attention.
“Police confiscated US$43 000 from Ncube, yet this amount is conspicuously absent from official records. My clients were coerced into signing for it,” Tashaya stated.
Both men deny the charges.
Mnkandla ordered the State to provide medical care to the accused and instructed police to investigate the assault claims.
