EMERGENCY medical services provider Discovery Ambulance Services has delivered free healthcare to residents of Chiwundura constituency’s ward 18, offering critical medical assistance to the marginalised community.
A recent medical outreach programme, conducted in partnership with the Health and Child Care ministry, provided free blood pressure screening, HIV and diabetes testing, routine vaccination and family planning services at Kushinga Secondary School in the ward.
Health deputy minister Sleiman Kwidini, who is also the Chiwundura legislator, emphasised that the initiative aims to ensure underserved communities receive essential healthcare services.
“This mobile clinic is part of the nationwide Presidential Health Emergency Scheme, implemented by Discovery Ambulance Services in collaboration with the government,” Kwidini said.
He added that the programme would be run monthly until a permanent clinic was established in the area.
Ward 18 villagers travel a long distance to Chikwingwizha, Hwahwa Prison or Shurugwi for medical care.
Discovery Ambulance Services founder and chief executive officer David Munowenyu said the outreach programme aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of universal healthcare access by 2030.
“Our goal is to leave no one behind in healthcare access,” he said.
