A BULAWAYO-BASED faith-based organisation Mustard Seed Communities is making a positive impact in the lives of young children by offering free early childhood education.

Speaking during a media tour of home in Bulawayo over the weekend, Mustard Seed Communities fundraiser Hazvinei Zinyowa said they catered for children with disabilities.

“We are offering free Early Childhood Development education for children of people within our community so that they (children) have access to education as some families are facing financial challenges,” she said.

Zinyowa said they had 47 children at their home.

“We have a physiotherapy section every Saturday for our children as they have different physical disabilities,” she added.

The Mustard Seed Communities fundraiser said they had feeding programmes for vulnerable people in Bulawayo.

“We have feeding programmes within Bulawayo in areas like Pumula, Ngozi Mine, Woodville, Cawasha and Mogobho so that people around those communities are able to have food,” she said, adding that they also ran farming projects.

“We have a poultry project for our food nutrition and we sell surplus to cater for the needs of our home,” she said.

“We also plant some vegetables within our home.”

Nkululeko Ncube, a priest, said the home was inclusive. “We take care of all vulnerable children within our communities regardless of their religious background as our aim is to uplift all the members of the community,” he said.
