Zanu PF youths perish in Zvishavane accident

IN a devastating turn of events, two young female members of the ruling Zanu PF party died following a road traffic accident while on their way to celebrate President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 83rd birthday.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, just outside the mining town of Zvishavane in the Midlands province.

The victims, Nokutenda Alicia Sambare and an unnamed youth, were travelling in a Toyota Hilux when the vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Zupco bus at the 100km peg along the Gweru-Zvishavane Highway.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the tragic incident.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which resulted in the death of two individuals, with two others sustaining injuries,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted for treatment.
