THE education sector has been urged to harness digital power to enhance heritage-based curriculum to bridge the gap between cultural and contemporary knowledge and to preserve the culture for future generations.

The call was made by Zimpapers Training Institute acting principal Limukani Ncube during the prize-giving day at Sizane High School yesterday.

“We need to use the digital platforms to enhance heritage based curriculum to empower students to access information for educational purposes hence development of education within the country,” he said.

Ncube cited that incorporating digital power to heritage-based curriculum would help improve education and accessibility of information to students.

“At the moment, the world is embracing digital power, hence the need to incorporate it within schools for heritage-based curriculum to improve the quality of education, which uplifts the development of our nation at large,” he added.

Former dean of students at the National University of Science and Technology, Sibongile Kamusoko, applauded the introduction of a heritage-based curriculum which empowers education with cultural values of the nation.

“We are happy with the introduction of a heritage-based curriculum as it helps produce technocrats in schools through empowering students to be innovative and creative,” she said.

Kamusoko said digital power should be embraced to uplift the curriculum.

School development committee vice-chairperson Nomathemba Mkandla applauded parents for collaborating with the school for its development.

“We have projects we are implementing for the development of our school,” she said.

“Currently, we are planning to drill a borehole to uplift our agricultural production, hence we appeal for donation of funds from stakeholders to complete this project.”

There was commissioning of a block with three classrooms  which was donated by the SDC committee.
