MZINGWANE High School in Matabeleland South province has taken a giant leap into the digital future with the official opening of an e-library, a facility poised to transform learning and research.

The school, renowned for academic excellence in Umzingwane district, has established the e-library as part of an ongoing modernisation strategy.

The hub is equipped with 20 new desktop computers and ergonomic furniture, providing a dedicated space for students and teachers to cultivate 21st century skills.

School development committee chairperson Mandlenkosi Sinyoro hailed the e-library as a milestone achievement.

“This marks a new chapter for our school,” Sinyoro told Southern Eye.

“This digital library will technologically empower our children and move us towards transformative learning.”

He said the facility shifted focus from traditional methods to modern techniques that fostered critical thinking, innovation and independent research.

The e-library was officially commissioned by Umzingwane legislator Levy Mayihlome.

Sinyoro said the initiative aligned with the national goal to establish community information centres and bridge the digital divide in rural and peri-urban areas.

“This digital library is not just a school asset, but a community resource,” he said.

“We believe it will be a game-changer in improving the pass rate and building essential digital literacy.”

The school administration plans to expand digital learning through online resources, e-books and access to national educational platforms.
