I am willing to pay the price: Mai Mutami

Mai Mutami credits her success to the unwavering support she receives from her family and community.

Charity and determination will take me to the international gospel arena, says Gweru gospel sensation Wadzanai Mukanga-Mutami, popularly known as Mai Mutami.

The 28-year-old gospel minister and devoted member of AFM in Zimbabwe — Mtapa Assembly, said in an interview that she is determined to use her music as a tool for social change and a platform to challenge inequalities within society.

 “I am highly inspired to grow in the music industry. If I can perform on a global stage, I will be able to speak, heal and encourage people all over the world in the interest of God’s kingdom,” said Mai Mutami.

“Music is not only an entertainment tool; I am an agent for social change, spiritual growth and spreading the good news about Christ.”

With her growing popularity, Mai Mutami has become a regular performer at local churches and conferences across Zimbabwe, receiving a steady flow of invitations that continue to build her confidence.

 “I am grateful that people appreciate the gift within me. Above all, I have gained self-confidence,” she said.

She has shared the stage with renowned gospel artists such as Ivy Charamba, Shyleen Maningi, Adamson Jeketere, and Prince Tinashe, which she describes as a humbling and motivating experience.

Mai Mutami credits her success to the unwavering support she receives from her family and community.

“At home, my music has been accepted, and that gives me hope that I’m sailing in the right direction,” she said.

Her musical catalogue includes the single Mudziyo Wakakodzera (2024) and her seven-track album Ndinzweiwo Mwari (2025), both of which have been well received by gospel music lovers.
