A 21-YEAR-OLD woman from Helenvale in Umguza, Matabeleland North province, is in soup for allegedly killing her boyfriend after a misunderstanding.Bulawayo police acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the incident.

She identified the deceased as Norman Ndlovu (29), saying police have already arrested Getrude Mpofu (21) on murder allegations.

“On October 12 at around 8am, the now deceased Ndlovu of Hellenvale, Umguza, who is the accused person’s boyfriend, had a misunderstanding with her in the presence of Getrude Mpofu's younger sister,” she said.

Ndlovu said the younger sister went away while the two were fighting.

“On the same day at around 0835am, the accused person’s younger sister phoned their neighbour, a male adult aged 23, requesting him to go and check on the accused and the now deceased since she had left them fighting,” Ndlovu said.

“The neighbour went and found Ndlovu lying lifeless before he made a police report.”

She said the police found Ndlovu with a cut on the chest, scars on the neck and other parts of the body.

Mpofu was arrested and, on being interrogated, alleged that she only struck him once on the head with a brick.

“We encourage members of the public to desist from violence as it leads to unnecessary loss of life, and find amicable ways of solving their differences,” Ndlovu said.
