A Silobela man has been remanded in custody for allegedly stealing 20kg of gold ore from a Miners for ED mine in Matopo.
Elvis Ngwenya appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who remanded him until October 26.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi stated that on October 8, Ngwenya and an accomplice sneaked into the mine and stole the valuable ore.
Their operation was foiled when an alert security guard spotted Ngwenya carrying the loot and apprehended him immediately.
Nyathi confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The case continues.
