City armed robbers nabbed

Two men appeared at the Bulawayo regional magistrates court last week facing armed robbery charges after they allegedly attacked fuel attendants.

Clifford Desmond Nare (34) and Thabo Dube (24) were remanded in custody by Magistrate Archie Wochiwunga. The court heard that on November 8, 2024, two fuel attendants at Nova Petroleum were attacked by the two suspects..

“Another one came behind me with a gun, ordered me to lie down, searched me, and assaulted me violently on the head,” Nyoni said, adding that he now suffers constant headaches.

He lost US$550 and a phone.

His colleague, Ethan Maromasaka, lost $770 and two phones. A related robbery occurred at Choppies Luveve on December 28, 2024. The court heard that the robbers fired shots, assaulted staff, and stole a safe containing US$3,100 and ZAR 1,000.

A security guard was stabbed.

An investigation led to the arrests of Nare and Dube. A search of their homes recovered a pistol with an erased serial number, a machete, and a pellet gun.

Both accused have denied the charges.
