An 18-year-old man from Malaba village has been remanded in custody for allegedly raping his cousin on two separate occasions last moth.
The accused appeared before the Gwanda magistrate's court where his bail application was rejected.
He was remanded to November 4.
The court heard that on October 11, the victim aged 14 was left home babysitting her siblings when her mother visited Tshelanyemba.
The accused arrived home late, entered the room where the girl was sleeping, and raped her.
He threatened her against reporting the assault.
In a second incident on October 16, the accused went to the complainant’s home, where she was sleeping with her sister.
He forcibly silenced her with a blanket and raped her again.

The following morning, the victim reported the assaults to a neighbour, who alerted the police.
The accused was subsequently arrested, and medical evidence was gathered for the trial.
