A 43-YEAR-OLD man from Queens Park East in Bulawayo has been hauled before the courts after allegedly indecently assaulting an 11-year-old schoolgirl in school premises.
Dickson Pembedza appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Taurai Manwere, facing a charge of indecent assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody to December 10 for trial.
The court was told that on November 14, the complainant, a female juvenile aged 11, a student at a Bulawayo school, was approaching the school gate when she was accosted by Pembedza, a man she did not know.
He allegedly asked her if she could provide the answer for five times five.
After the girl responded, Pembedza reportedly invited her to sit with him on a bench within the school premises.
While they were seated, he allegedly drew a clock face on a book and continued writing Mathematics. The State alleges that Pembedza then deliberately dropped some coins and as he bent down to pick them up, he placed a book on the girl's legs.
It was at that moment that he allegedly inserted his hand under her school uniform and touched her thigh.
