Residents in Bulawayo’s Ward 25 are celebrating a new wave of development under their councillor and committee, who took office in 2023.
Key infrastructure projects, particularly the construction of trenches and an improved drainage system, are already transforming the area.
Tshaha Nleya, the ward’s development committee chairperson, said the ward retention funds from the council have made these projects possible.
“There is expansive development ever since we took over,” Nleya said.
“For years, residents cried foul over flooding due to poor drainage. Now, we are addressing that.”
Compassionate Team member Zwelitsha Moyo said:, “The new office is really trying to impress.
“They are applying pressure so we receive funds and prove themselves to us.”
Ambrose Sibindi, a local resident, added that the improvements meant homes will be protected this rainy season.
