THE ward 25 compassionate team, led by councillor Aleck Ndlovu, recently handed over gifts to less fortunate residents in the ward.
The handover ceremony took place on December 21 at Mgiqika Primary School. It was attended by community leaders, residents' association representatives, church leaders and residents.
The team received generous donations from well-wishers, which included clothing, linen and other essential goods.
Ndlovu expressed gratitude to those who donated to the initiative.
“These gifts will go a long way in making a difference in the lives of those who are in desperate need,” he said.
Ndlovu thanked the compassionate team and stakeholders for their hard work and dedication which made the initiative a success.
“We are grateful for the support we received from the community, and we are thrilled to have been able to make a positive impact in the lives of our less fortunate residents,” he said.
Ndlovu said the compassionate team’s efforts were a testament to the power of a community coming together to support those in need.

According to recent reports, Ndlovu embarked on a mission to source donations for vulnerable groups in the community.
In an interview, Ndlovu explained the motivation behind the initiative and how it aims to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
He said the initiative, dubbed the Ward 25 Compassion Team, was aimed at collecting donations of clothing, utensils, food and other essential items that could be of use to those in need.
Ndlovu assured the public that the exercise will be transparent, with events held to publicise the donations and beneficiaries.
He said the initiative was not limited to Christmas but would be ongoing, with donations distributed as and when they are received.
