The Kusile Rural District Council (RDC) in Matabeleland North has issued a notice of intention to repossess 262 residential, commercial and industrial stands after their owners allegedly failed to develop them in line with conditions.
In a public notice published on Monday, council said the properties were located at Jotsholo district service centre and St Luke’s rural service centre.
According to the notice, Kusile RDC intends to repossess all stands that are not compliant with offer letters, financial obligations and lease-with-option-to-purchase terms.
“Affected stand holders are advised to submit any objections to the repossession along with supporting documentation to the undersigned within 30 days from the đate of this publication,” the notice read.
It warned that stands for which no objections are received or where no viable remedies are agreed upon, will be repossessed without compensation and reallocated to applicants on the council housing waiting lists.
Council said Jotsholo and St Luke's stand seekers must make sure they are up-to-date with annual waiting-list renewals.
It noted that new registrations to its waiting lists are welcome at US$25 residential and US$30 business stands.
According to council, the stands on notice for repossession at Jotsholo district service centre are 193, with 120 stands under medium density, 34 low density, 13 commercial, 11 industrial, 13 light industry and two church.
