BCC opens doors to vocational training

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has launched a vocational training programme aimed at equipping school-leavers with practical skills in various trades. Registration for the 2026 intake began yesterday and will run until January 15.

The initiative offers young people in Bulawayo the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sectors such as construction, hospitality, agriculture and technology — preparing them for employment or entrepreneurship. The programme is part of BCC’s ongoing commitment to youth development and promoting equal opportunities for all residents.

Bulawayo town clerk Christopher Dube said the programme provided a range of courses and was open to applicants with or without Ordinary Level qualifications who can read and write, aged between 14 and 24. Short courses are available for groups and attachments, while longer courses include assessments and practical tests.

Through this programme, BCC hopes to empower youth with skills that are directly applicable on the job market, helping them to build sustainable careers and contribute to the city’s economic growth.
