ZANU PF Matabeleland South Province has stepped up efforts to consolidate party unity and strengthen grassroots structures following a high-level constituency meeting held in Beitbridge West last week.
The meeting, hosted by Beitbridge West Member of Parliament Thusani Ndou, was officiated by Zanu PF Matabeleland South chairperson and Industry and Commerce minister, Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, who attended as guest of honour.
Addressing party members, Ndllovu said the provincial leadership was deliberately engaging structures on the ground to reinforce unity, discipline and collective purpose as the party moves to strengthen its presence at grassroots level.
“Our programme to visit all constituencies is meant to take stock of the state of the party, to listen to our structures and to ensure that we are working as one,” he said.
“Unity is the backbone of Zanu PF, and without unity at branch, district and constituency level, we cannot effectively serve our people.”
Ndlovu said the leadership engagements were also aimed at improving coordination between elected officials, party structures and communities to ensure that development priorities are clearly identified and addressed.
“We want a party that is united, organised and responsive to the needs of the people. Zanu PF must remain closely connected to the communities it represents, and that requires cooperation, discipline and constant engagement.” Ndlovu said
In a move that linked political mobilisation with development, Ndlovu donated 10 bags of cement towards the construction of a school in Makabule and another10 bags for the construction of a community hall in Mtetengwe.
