The Slimzar Wa Afrika Foundaton has officially opened a call for donations for its inaugural Donate A Music instrument Campaign.
This initiative seeks to equip children’s homes across Bulawayo with the tools necessary to nurture creative talent and provide a professional pathway into the music industry.
The foundation is inviting individuals, corporate partners and the general public to donate new or used musical instruments.
These instruments will be distributed to local orphanages where the foundation will facilitate ongoing mentorship and practical training.
“In a unique move to bridge the gap between traditional performance and modem technology the campaign is also calling for donations of computers and laptops,” the foundation said.
“These devices will be equipped with music production software to allow children to learn the technical art of sound engineering and cagital composition.
“To make this possible the foundation is, therefore, seeking donations of the following items: acoustic and electric instruments — guitars, pianos, keyboards, violins, saxophones and drum sets.
“Traditional instruments: marimbas, mbira and drums. Music technology: laptops and desktop computers and MIDI controllers and studio monitors.”
