‘Co-opt my campaign backers in Zanu PF affiliates’

INSIZA North legislator Delani Moyo

INSIZA North legislator Delani Moyo (Zanu PF) has recommended the co-option of some loyal cadres who led his campaign for the National Assembly seat late last year.

In a letter addressed to the Zanu PF commissariat department in Harare, Moyo recommended Dumiso Makhalima, who served him well in the by-election campaign, for a position in the Vendors for Economic Development (Vendors 4ED).

Moyo also recommended the co-option of Mbeko Kunene in the Senior Citizens 4ED in Matabeleland South province.

The development comes at a time when the Vendors4ED is embroiled in controversy, after its leadership, led by national chairperson Sawu Jere, replaced the cast out Samora Chisvo.

Ex-secretary Bright Kwinjo was also expelled for allegedly misusing part of the US$200 000 meant to be disbursed to 10 provinces, recently.

The alleged misuse of US$125 000 was revealed by Albi Marima, the Vendors 4ED secretary-general and Jere in a letter notifying Zanu PF Bulawayo province of the suspension of five other provincial members.

Meanwhile, as the chaos unfolds in the affiliate, Moyo recommended Makhalima for consideration for the position of Vendors 4ED national secretary for media, information and publicity.

“As the Member of Parliament for Insiza North, I have had the opportunity to closely follow Makhalima’s work and engagement across various digital platforms, particularly WhatsApp channels, where he is popularly known as ‘Zone Commander’ on digital mobilisation platforms,” he said.

“His consistent messaging, mobilisation efforts and dedication to party programmes demonstrate a solid understanding of media engagement, information dissemination and grassroots political communication.”

Moyo said Makhalima had shown commendable commitment, professionalism and loyalty to the ideals and vision of Zanu PF.

He said his ability to communicate effectively with vendors and the broader community, coupled with his passion for empowerment-driven initiatives, made him a suitable and valuable candidate for Vendors 4ED.

“I am confident that his skills, discipline and work ethic will enable him to make a meaningful contribution to the media, information and publicity portfolio at national level,” Moyo said.

In another letter, Moyo recommended Kunene for a position in the Senior Citizens 4ED as provincial chairperson after observing his unwavering commitment to community development, party mobilisation and the welfare of senior citizens within the constituency.

“He has consistently demonstrated leadership, discipline and a deep understanding of the values and vision of Zanu PF, particularly the empowerment and inclusion of elderly citizens in national development programmes,” he said.

Moyo said Kunene had been actively involved in grassroots mobilisation, offering guidance, mentorship and coordination among senior citizens.

He said his ability to unite elders, promote peace and encourage participation in socio-economic and political initiatives made him well suited for leadership within Senior Citizens 4ED.

“He is a loyal, principled and hardworking cadre whose experience and maturity will greatly strengthen the Senior Citizens 4ED structures in Matabeleland South province.

“I am confident that, if appointed, Kunene will execute his duties with dedication, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility to both the party and the community he

serves.”

The party commissariat is yet to respond to his letters.
