The Bulawayo Regional Court has convicted two men following the seizure of 37kg of dagga in Rangemore, in a case authorities say underscores the growing fight against drug trafficking.
Lucias Moyo and Musawenkosi Donga were found guilty of unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs.
The court sentenced each offender to nine years’ imprisonment.
However, three years of each sentence were suspended for five years on condition that they do not commit a similar offence during that period, leaving an effective six-year custodial term.
According to court proceedings, detectives received a tip-off on December 15, 2025, indicating that Donga had taken delivery of a large consignment of loose dagga.
The drugs were reportedly stored at Moyo’s residence along Randeni Road in Rangemore, Bulawayo.
Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of 76 plastic-wrapped packets of cannabis weighing a total of 37kg. The contraband carried an estimated street value of ZiG 1 110 000.
Prosecutors told the court that the quantity and packaging of the dagga pointed to commercial distribution rather than personal use.
