Over 500 Mangwe youth register trust training programme

Tonganyika Trust Practical programme

More than 500 youths from Mangwe district have registered for a training programme that seeks to equip them with practical skills that improve employment prospects.

The Tonganyika Trust Practical programme targets young people from remote rural wards and aims to equip them with practical skills that improve employment prospects and create economic opportunities.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry deputy minister, Tongai Mnangagwa, said programmes that focus on practical skills development help translate national empowerment policies into tangible benefits for communities.

“Programmes such as this one are critical in equipping our young people with practical skills that can be converted into sustainable livelihoods,” Mnangagwa said during a visit to Mangwe.

“By empowering youths with industry-relevant training, we are translating national empowerment policies into real opportunities that benefit communities.”

Organisers highlighted the positive impact the training has already had on participating youths.

Organisers said the structured workplace exposure has helped strengthen the trainees’ practical competence and improve their employability.

Councillor John Mguni said the response from youths ahead of Phase 2 has been overwhelming.

“The response from the young people of Mangwe has been overwhelming,” he said.

“We are looking forward to a very busy week ahead of us with the Phase 2 training.”
