ZRP plans boarding school in Mat North

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art boarding school, ZRP Umguza High School, in Matabeleland North province.

The school will be located near Ntabazinduna, about 40km from Bulawayo.

In a statement on Wednesday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said a golf tournament would be held that day to raise funds for the project.

“The tournament will be held at the Bulawayo Country Club from 7am to 8:30pm,” he said.

“Numerous prizes are on offer for the winners.”

Nyathi noted that the event will feature top local golfers competing for lucrative prizes while also giving community members an opportunity to support the initiative.

“Participating in this golf tournament is not just about the game; it is about investing in the future of our youth and strengthening community institutions.

“The ZRP is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders through quality education.”

Organisers expect significant turnout, with proceeds set to finance the construction of classrooms, dormitories and sports facilities at the school.

The initiative is also seen as a way of fostering partnerships between law enforcement agents and communities.

Nyathi said the institution would complement ZRP High School in Hatcliffe, Harare, thereby enhancing educational opportunities for youth.
