Bulawayo Afro-pop artist Bongani Dube, popularly known as Dubcee PHOTIZO, is set to release his new single, Awuzang’ Ng’vume, today, offering fans an emotionally charged song inspired by personal heartbreak.
The Pumula South-born musician said he deliberately chose a Thursday release instead of the conventional Friday launch to give the song more time to gain momentum ahead of the weekend.
“I chose Thursday because it gives people an opportunity to discover my song before the weekend. By Friday the momentum can continue to grow as more listeners share and enjoy it,” he said.
Dubcee PHOTIZO said the single is rooted in real-life experiences, making it one of his most personal projects to date.
“This is a true story that reflects real emotions and moments that many people go through. I wanted to turn that experience into music that others can relate to and find comfort in,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from a past relationship, the artist said writing the song came naturally because it reflected genuine emotions.
“Because it’s based on a true story, writing it felt very natural. I focused on expressing genuine emotions so that listeners could feel every word,” he said.
He credited producer Sybs for helping shape the song into its final polished version despite the challenges encountered during production.
