BULAWAYO, Aug. 6, ( Southern Eye Live) -Youth organisations have called for stronger collaboration to ensure the proposed Youth Bill responds to their aspirations.
Speaking during a youth accountability roundtable early this week, representatives from the Youth Empowerment Transformation Trust (YETT), Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) and WELEAD emphasized the need for coordination and sustained engagement among youth organisations and key stakeholders to consolidate efforts towards the promulgation of the Bill.
"There is a need for collaboration, coordination and sustained engagement among youth organisations and key stakeholders to advance a Youth Bill that responds to the aspirations of Zimbabwe’s young people," the panel said.
Participants said a united voice was critical to ensure meaningful youth policy reform and accountability in governance.
The discussions form part of ongoing advocacy by youth groups to have legislation that addresses employment, participation in decision-making, and access to resources for young people.
