Ingwe Matabeleland Resources has called on the public and affected community members to submit their views regarding a proposed gold milling and processing plant in Maphisa, Matobo district.
The company, which holds title to a three-block claim in Ward 22, is seeking to establish milling operations on the site.
The proposed development is currently undergoing a mandatory environmental impact assessment (EIA), being conducted by contracted consultancy LenRage OSHE.
In an official stakeholder notification, Ingwe stated that while its core business involves gold milling and beneficiation, it also prioritises community development in its operational areas.
“Ingwe Resources has title to a three-block claim located in Ward 22, in Maphisa, Matobo district,” the company said.
“The core business of Ingwe is the milling and processing of gold and general community development in the project locations of operations.”
The EIA process is designed to provide Project Affected Parties (PAP) with a platform to contribute to the assessment and voice any concerns regarding the development.
“We invite all project affected parties to submit their contributions, comments and views on this proposed project,” the notice read.
Stakeholders and residents have until September 1, 2026 to submit their feedback. Comments can be directed to Ingwe representative Craig Cummings, or to LenRage OSHE Consultancy CEO Hellen Nekati, via the provided contact details.
The consultation comes amid a recent surge in mining activity across the Matopo region, some of which has been marred by chaotic and violent disputes in recent months.
