Emakhandeni-Luveve constituency Member of Parliament, Discent Bajila, has vowed to engage Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona over the delayed completion of the Bulawayo-Maphisa Road.
Bajila told Southern Eye that he has submitted questions on the parliamentary Order Paper demanding answers from relevant ministries regarding key issues affecting citizens.
“[I want] to ask the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, to inform the House on government plans to complete the rehabilitation of the Bulawayo-Maphisa Road, which commenced in preparation for the 44th Independence celebrations,” Bajila said.
He noted that his questions have been on the Order Paper since May, and he is still waiting for the responsible ministers to respond.

“[I want] to ask the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Mthuli Ncube, to inform the House on plans and timelines for clearing outstanding Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) arrears accumulated between 2017 and 2026,” he said.
Bajila also wants Ncube to inform Parliament on progress made towards compensating individuals whose pensions and investments were eroded by hyperinflation.
According to the Order Paper, Bajila further intends to ask Primary and Secondary Education Minister Torerayi Moyo to outline mechanisms ensuring school syllabi are completed within the academic calendar without requiring compulsory extra lessons at an extra cost to parents.
He added that he will ask Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe whether the government plans to launch a mobile registration exercise for national identity documents and birth certificates, and if the program will cover Wards 11 and 16 in his constituency.
Meanwhile, Matobo Ward 19 councillor Nqobizitha Ngwenya also expressed concern over the delayed works on the Bulawayo–Maphisa Road, citing the approaching rainy season.
“We are heading into the rainy season and nothing is happening on the ground. It will be difficult to rehabilitate the road once the rains start,” Ngwenya said.
