Sharon Ndlovu was convicted and fined by Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe for unlawful possession or use of dangerous drugs, as defined under Section 157(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
INYATHI, SEPT 8, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): A 23-year-old Inyathi woman has been slapped with a US$300 fine for unlawful possession of dagga.
Sharon Ndlovu was convicted and fined by Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe for unlawful possession or use of dangerous drugs, as defined under Section 157(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
Failure to pay the fine will result in Ndlovu serving an effective six-month prison sentence.
Four months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecutor Happiness Nleya submitted that the offender was arrested while smoking dagga in a public place and in the presence of children.
