Plumtree Town Council has applied for borrowing powers to secure a US$340,000 loan from ZB Bank to purchase an excavator and a low-bed truck.
According to a public notice issued by the local authority, the equipment will be used to improve service delivery, particularly in the construction and maintenance of roads, sewer systems and water reticulation infrastructure.
“The excavator will enhance efficiency in aggregate excavation and facilitate the loading of tipper trucks, ensuring smooth process flow in construction and maintenance projects,” the council said.
It added that the low-bed truck would provide reliable transportation of machinery between different project sites.
Council said the investment was intended to support its strategic objectives and enable it to meet minimum service delivery standards.
Members of the public who wish to object to the proposed borrowing have been given 30 days from the date of publication to lodge their objections in writing to the town secretary.
