GWANDA, SEPT 13, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): Gwanda residents have expressed concern over unattended sewer pipe bursts, saying the situation is turning into a health hazard.

Collet Moyo told Southern Eye that several houses in the Spitzkop area have had burst sewer pipes for a long time. She blamed the local authority for failing to address the issue.

"I have engaged the council over the issue, and they have always promised to come to our rescue but to no avail," Moyo said.

"Whether the system has collapsed, it's not normal that we have to wear masks every day. We now fear a disease outbreak in this area."

"For me to be motivated to pay bills, issues like sewer management must be addressed," Moyo said.

But mayor Thulani Moyo said the situation was under control.
