THE Lions Club Gweru has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community development initiatives in the city following a courtesy call on Gweru mayor Martin Chivhoko at the Civic Centre.
In a statement, Gweru City Council said the meeting focused on strengthening the existing partnership between the local authority and the Lions Club, particularly in community service programmes and projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
“This morning, His Worship the mayor of the City of Gweru, Councillor Martin Chivhoko, received a courtesy call from the Lions Club Gweru team at the Civic Centre,” the council said.
“The meeting focused on strengthening the existing partnership between the City and the Lions Club, particularly regarding ongoing community service initiatives and upcoming projects aimed at improving the lives of Gweru residents.”
The council said the engagement provided an opportunity for the two organisations to discuss areas of collaboration as they seek to enhance services and support communities across the city.
As part of the visit, the Lions Club Gweru donated bin liners, masks and surgical gloves to the city council to support its operations.
Council welcomed the donation, describing it as a demonstration of the club's continued commitment to community service.
“We appreciate the Lions Club's continued dedication to service and their generous contribution to our city,” council said.
