Entembeni Old People’s Home has received a donation of food, kitchen utensils and toiletries worth hundreds of dollars from the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute.
Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute Bulawayo branch chairperson Siphathisiwe Dlamini Shumba told Southern Eye that their institution values helping vulnerable groups.
“We have placed our corporate social responsibility as a strategy for identifying many vulnerable places, like Mpilo and Ingutsheni hospitals, and look for ways of raising funds for such institutions,” Shumba said.
“This is not the first time we have donated to this institution. We will continue to assist wherever necessary.”
Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute councillor Lifneth Moyo said the initiatives cement support for building a nation in line with Vision 2030.
Entembeni Old People’s Home administrator Chelesani Tshuma paid tribute to the donors and urged other institutions to follow suit.
“There are 58 elderly people here, 36 males and 22 females,” Tshuma said.
“We always welcome donations of food, detergents and other necessities to assist our elderly residents.

“Some are here because they lack residences, some have relatives and some do not, and some have mental challenges.
“Some have been adopted; anyone who wants to adopt one of the elderly here is welcome. Some have since discovered their relatives while being cared for here.”
Entembeni Old People’s Home is a residential facility for senior citizens located in Luveve suburb, established in 1963.
