CONGREGANTS from Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Bulawayo were among thousands of Johanne The Fifth of Africa International Church (J5) members who gathered at the popular Parushanga Shrine in Mutare over the weekend for a special one-on-one engagement with church founder and leader Archbishop Commander Andby Makururu.
The gathering brought together J5 members from different provinces, with the Matabeleland contingent travelling to Mutare to participate in the engagement, which focused on church development, strengthening provincial leadership and addressing challenges affecting congregants.
Makururu also took members through Bible readings during the gathering.
“This is an important gathering we have to undertake as a church. We had a one-on-one with church members from across several provinces,” Makururu said.
“This is not the first time we have conducted such an event. We are also targeting some provinces across the region.”
He said the church was planning a series of programmes before the end of the year.
“We are organising several events before the end of the year that are going to be life-changing,” Makururu said.
Thousands of congregants attended the event at the shrine, highlighting the church's growing presence across Zimbabwe and the region.

Makururu said J5 now had more than three million congregants across Southern Africa and overseas.
He is also known for his calls for peace in the region and has previously met Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Mozambican President Daniel Chapo at their respective State Houses.
