AUSTRALIAN gospel musician Minstrel Taffie has described the recently held Grateful Experience Australia as a special moment of gospel unity, after sharing the stage with fellow musicians from Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom and Australia.
The gospel extravaganza, held in Melbourne on September 18 and Perth on September 19, brought together a strong line-up of gospel voices for two nights of praise, worship and spiritual reflection.
For Minstrel Taffie, the concerts provided an opportunity not only to minister through music, but also to celebrate the growing influence of African gospel music among the Zimbabwean diaspora and wider African community in Australia.
The event was presented by Destiny Music Entertainment, led by Mark Madzinga, in partnership with Eleana Makombe and her husband, and featured artists including Minister Ellard Cherayi, Worshipper L Gunda, Canaan Nyathi, Min Michael Mahendere, Eleana Makombe, Sharon Cherayi, Rudo Madindi and The Unveiled.
Minstrel Taffie said being part of such a diverse line-up was an honour, particularly because the gathering brought together musicians united by their faith and passion for gospel music.
“It was a blessing to share the stage with such gifted gospel musicians. Grateful Experience was more than just a concert. It was a celebration of who we are, our faith, our culture and the God we serve,” she said.
Minstrel Taffie's participation also highlighted the role of Australia-based gospel musicians in keeping African Christian music and cultural identity alive within the diaspora.
The organisers described Grateful Experience as a celebration of “rich cultural roots, deep-seated faith and the vibrant rhythm of African gospel”, with audiences encouraged to come expecting passionate praise, authentic worship and spiritual renewal.

The Melbourne leg was staged at the Westgate Indoor Sports Centre, while the Perth event took place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For the performers, the gatherings created a platform for different generations and musical styles to converge, while giving Zimbabweans and other Africans living in Australia an opportunity to reconnect through gospel music.
Minstrel Taffie said the experience demonstrated the power of music to bring communities together beyond geographical boundaries.
The concerts also showcased the growing network of Zimbabwean gospel musicians and creatives in Australia, with the performers using their platforms to minister to audiences while celebrating their African heritage.
With Grateful Experience, the message was clear, gospel music can serve as both a spiritual ministry and a bridge connecting Africans in the diaspora with their cultural and religious roots.
For Minstrel Taffie, sharing the stage with fellow gospel musicians was therefore more than a career highlight — it was an opportunity to be part of a collective sound of praise.
“We came together to lift up the name of the Lord, and that is what made the experience truly special,” Taffie said.
