BULAWAYO, SEPT 28 (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): THE Bulawayo City Council has begun household and traffic surveys in the city’s eastern suburbs as it moves to develop a new local development plan for the area.
The surveys, which start today, will run until November 4, 2026, according to a public notice issued by town clerk Christopher Dube.
The council said the exercise was being carried out in terms of Section 17 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act [Chapter 29:12] of 1996.
“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public and other stakeholders affected that we will be carrying out household and traffic surveys within the Local Development Plan area – Eastern areas,” Dube said in the notice.
The targeted areas include Glengarry, Woodlands, Selborne Park, Parklands, Killarney and Mahatshula, while the household survey schedule also lists Sunninghill.
The traffic surveys begin today and will run until October 17, covering eight key road intersections.
These are Cecil Avenue and Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road; Esigodini Road and Cecil Avenue; Harare Road and Cecil Avenue; Cecil Avenue and Coghlan Avenue; St Luke’s Way and Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road; Bulawayo Drive and Harare Road; Woodville Park Road and Harare Road; and Stanfrie Drive and Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road.
The household surveys will then be conducted from October 19 to November 4 in Glengarry, Killarney, Sunninghill, Woodlands, Parklands, Selborne Park and Mahatshula.
