A 30-year-old Bulawayo man has been sentenced to six years in prison for stealing a motor vehicle with two years suspended, leaving him with an effective four years behind bars.
Brendon Ndlovu, of Hillside, was convicted of motor vehicle theft by the Bulawayo magistrates’ court.
The court heard that on June 29 2026 at about 3pm, the 53-year-old complainant, Pragji Darren Ghiren, parked his Toyota Vitz vehicle at his mother’s house in Famona along Matopos Road.
Ghiren locked the vehicle and left the car keys in the custody of his mother, Shanti Pragi.
Later that day, Ndlovu and his alleged accomplice, Brian Mapfumo, who is still at large, reportedly hatched a plan to steal the vehicle.
The pair jumped over the property’s perimeter fence, broke into the house through the kitchen door, and stole the house and vehicle keys.
They then used the stolen keys to start the Toyota Vitz and drove away.
Ndlovu was arrested on September 3, 2026 while attempting to sell the vehicle to car breakers in Kelvin, Bulawayo.
