A 32-year-old man from Silobela has been sentenced to an effective 18 years in prison after being convicted of raping a four-year-old girl.
The Kwekwe regional magistrates’ court convicted and sentenced the man on the rape charge.
The court heard that on September 14, 2026 at about 10 am, the child was playing with other children while her mother went to the garden.
The convict called the girl and led her to a nearby bush where he removed his trousers and raped her.
Afterwards, he threatened the child and warned her not to tell her mother about the sexual assault before leaving her at the scene.
The matter came to light when the girl’s mother was bathing her and the child disclosed what had happened.
The mother immediately reported the matter to the police, resulting in the man’s arrest and subsequent conviction.
