Fort Rixon duo remanded over theft

The court was told that on September 10, the two proceeded to Spring Farm, where Sibanda’s beasts had strayed.

Two men from Fort Rixon have appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sam Chitumwa facing stock theft charges. Ngonidzashe Chiweshe (49) and Bhekimpilo Mlilo (39), both from Fort Rixon, were remanded in custody to October 13.

The court heard that the complainant is Nebros Sibanda (72) from Mahlabathini Village, Inyathi.

The court was told that on September 10, the two proceeded to Spring Farm, where Sibanda’s beasts had strayed.

They then drove Sibanda’s beasts away and attempted to sell them to Qondani Mathe for US$1 070.

The matter came to light when the two presented a false stock card to a police officer conducting a stock clearance, leading to their arrest.

The recovered beasts and the false stock card were seized by the police. The value of the stolen property is US$1 070, and all of it was recovered.
