GWERU, OCT 3, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): POLICE in the Midlands have arrested two suspects in connection with robberies that occurred at three homesteads in Insukamini, Lower Gweru, last month.
The suspects were identified as Shephered Gundani and Edson Sithole.
According to the police, the suspects, together with their accomplices, who are still at large, armed themselves with pistols, machetes and knives and allegedly raided the three homesteads on September 23.
They allegedly threatened and assaulted the victims before stealing cash, several cellphones, a Toyota Fortuner and other valuables worth approximately US$60,000.
Police said the vehicle was recovered in Chivi two days later.
Following the arrests, police recovered machetes, knives, torches and other items from the suspects’ homes.
Investigations have also linked the suspects to other armed robbery cases reported in Lalapanzi, Mvuma and Masvingo.
