Bulawayo to host economic development, research and innovation conference

THE City of Bulawayo will next week host a three-day conference bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, innovators, civil society and development partners to discuss strategies for sustainable economic growth.

The combined Bulawayo Economic Development Conference (BEDCON) and City of Bulawayo Research and Innovation Seminar (COBRIS) 2026 will run from October 7 to 9 at Mavuna Lodge under the theme: “The implementation imperative: Delivering sustainable prosperity through collaborative industry.”

According to a notice issued by the City of Bulawayo, the conference aims to provide a platform for stakeholders from government, business, academia, civil society and development partners to discuss actionable strategies, share insights and forge collaborative partnerships.

“The conference aims to bring together stakeholders from government, business, academia, civil society, and development partners to discuss actionable strategies, share insights, and forge collaborative partnerships with the aim of positioning Bulawayo as a hub where policy, research, and enterprise converge,” the city said.

The local authority said the conference would also seek to generate practical solutions for promoting inclusive, equitable and resilient economic growth in the city.
