Twelve Somali nationals, including a 14-year-old, have been remanded in custody to October 19 following their arrest in Hwange after they allegedly entered Zimbabwe without valid immigration documents.
The 12 men, aged between 14 and 42, were arrested on October 3 after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detectives in Hwange acted on a tip-off and intercepted a bus transporting them from Victoria Falls to Bulawayo.
The court heard that the suspects intended to cross into South Africa.
The suspects appeared at the Hwange Magistrates’ Court on October 5 and were remanded in custody until October 19, pending the availability of a Somali interpreter.
