Bulawayo Council seeks to correct company name in stand allocation

BULAWAYO, OCT 12, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): BULAWAYO City Council is seeking approval to correct the registered name of a company allocated a commercial development stand along the George Avenue Corridor after a discrepancy was identified during lease preparation.

According to latest council minutes, the applicant’s name for Stand Number 20004BT was recorded as Tables and Pens (Private) Limited instead of Tables and Pins (Private) Limited, the name reflected in the company’s registration documents.

In a report dated September 22, 2026, the town clerk said the discrepancy was discovered after council had adopted the report on the evaluation and adjudication of expressions of interest (EOIs) for investment opportunities along the George Avenue Corridor and other areas.

The original report was adopted during the 3 404th Full Council meeting held on April 1, 2026.

The town clerk said the proposed correction was intended to align council records with the company’s official registration documents.

The report stated that the amendment was “purely administrative in nature” and would not alter the outcome of the adjudication process or the substance of council’s resolutions.

It further noted that the corrections were necessary to “ensure legal accuracy, administrative clarity, and to eliminate any ambiguity regarding the entities awarded the respective stands”.

The Finance and Development Committee was asked to approve the correction and ensure that all subsequent council records, agreements and other documentation reflected the amended company name.

The report said accurate company names in council resolutions were essential to safeguarding the allocation process and avoiding potential contractual or legal ambiguities during lease execution and transfer processes.

The recommendation before the committee was to approve the correction of Tables and Pens (Private) Limited to Tables and Pins (Private) Limited in accordance with the company’s registration documents.

The minutes provided do not state whether the committee subsequently approved the proposed correction.
