THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Mashonaland West Province has restricted haulage trucks from using the Harare-Chirundu Road between Chinhoyi and Harare from today to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the ongoing Zanu PF conference at Chinhoyi University of Technology.
In a public notice, the police urged haulage truck drivers travelling between Chinhoyi and Harare to use the alternative Chinhoyi-Chegutu Road before joining the Robert Mugabe Highway, which links with the Harare-Bulawayo Road at Norton.
The same diversion applies to drivers travelling from Harare towards Chinhoyi.
The police said the traffic management measures were necessary to ease congestion and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles during the conference.
“Drivers are urged to proceed via Chinhoyi-Chegutu Road and those proceeding to Harare will then use the Robert Mugabe Highway linking with Harare-Bulawayo Road at Norton,” the police said.
The ZRP appealed to motorists, particularly those in the haulage transport industry, to cooperate with officers deployed along the affected routes and comply with road traffic rules and regulations.
Drivers have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow police instructions to minimise disruptions during the period of the conference.
